Privacy Policy for Accenty

Last updated: July 13, 2026

Accenty ("we", "us", or "the app") is an AI English pronunciation coach. This policy explains what data the app handles and why. By using Accenty you agree to this policy.

The short version

  • Accenty does not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or other identifying information.
  • When you practice, the app records your voice and sends that audio to our processing service to generate pronunciation feedback.
  • We do not store your voice recordings after they are analyzed, and we do not use them to advertise to you or track you across other apps or websites.

What we collect and why

Audio recordings. When you tap record and read a sentence, the app captures your microphone audio and sends it to our backend, which forwards it to a third-party AI provider (Google Gemini) to analyze your pronunciation and return feedback. The audio is used only to produce that feedback. It is not stored on our servers after processing and is not linked to your identity.

Speech recognition. The live "Sound Check" practice room uses your device's built-in speech recognition to show how your words are heard. On some devices this feature may transmit audio to the platform provider (Apple or Google) under their own privacy policies.

On-device data. Your practice history and app settings (such as your chosen accent and coaching language) are stored locally on your device using standard app storage. This data does not leave your device except as part of the audio analysis described above. Deleting the app removes it.

We do NOT collect: your name, email, contacts, location, photos, advertising identifiers, or usage-tracking data. Accenty contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics SDKs.

How your data is protected

Audio is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Analysis is performed to return your feedback and is not retained afterward.

Third parties

  • Google Firebase / Gemini processes audio to generate pronunciation feedback. See Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
  • Apple / Google device speech recognition is used only by the Sound Check feature, under the platform's own policy.

We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

Children's privacy

Accenty is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

  • You can deny or revoke microphone permission in your device settings. Without the microphone, recording-based features will not work, but the rest of the app (such as the pronunciation reference) remains usable.
  • Deleting the app removes all locally stored practice history and settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
